Welcoming the Class of 2030:Â Fall 2026 Move-In Guide & Volunteer Sign-Up
Campus preparations are underway for Fall 2026 Move-In as thousands of new and returning students arrive on campus soon. Official move-in days will take place from Wednesday, Aug. 19, through Sunday, Aug. 23. Faculty and staff should anticipate increased traffic along main campus thoroughfares, particularly surrounding residence halls. Several parking lots will be reserved exclusively for move-in unloading during peak hours. To support the incoming class, the university is recruiting volunteers for Movers and Groovers and Golf Cart Shuttle drivers.
Town & Gown Tidbit: Kent opens its doors to history during Ohio's America 250 Celebration
Celebrate Kent's rich history during Ohio Open Doors, part of Ohio's America 250 celebration. From Sept. 15–20, Main Street Kent and the Kent Historical Society will host six days of free tours, talks, and historic experiences showcasing the people, places, and stories that have shaped our community. Highlights include Tap Talks with local authors, tours of the Kent Historical Society Museum and С»ÆƬÊÓƵ Museum, a Historic Pub Tour, a walking tour of Gougler Avenue, and a Historic Homes Tour featuring the Marvin Kent House.
An update regarding sick leave to vacation leave conversion
Beginning Sept. 1, 2026, only AFSCME employees will be eligible to convert sick leave to vacation leave. The ability to convert sick leave to personal leave is not changing. Consistent with 6-11.2 Administrative Policy Regarding Conversion of Sick Leave, eligible full-time non-AFSCME employees can continue to convert up to 40 hours of sick leave to personal leave each fiscal year, and part-time non-AFSCME employees can continue to convert up to 24 hours of sick leave to personal leave.
The Transformative Kent Blossom Music Festival Experience Returns for its 58th Year
The Kent Blossom Music Festival returns for its 58th season from June 21 through July 26, bringing world-class performances and educational opportunities to С»ÆƬÊÓƵ and Northeast Ohio. The 2026 season will feature faculty concerts, young artist performances and a season finale at Blossom Music Center, including the festival’s signature side-by-side concert with The Cleveland Orchestra.
Important update: Kent Campus workers' compensation care location
The С»ÆƬÊÓƵ Health Center no longer provides treatment for work-related injuries for Kent Campus employees. University Hospitals Urgent Care is now available as a convenient option for initial workplace injury treatment. If you're injured at work, notify your supervisor immediately and complete the required accident report within 24 hours. Employees who receive medical treatment must also complete a First Report of Injury to begin the workers' compensation claim process. Employees may receive initial treatment from any healthcare provider.
You're invited: Juneteenth Jubilee
С»ÆƬÊÓƵ will commemorate Juneteenth with a community celebration that combines the rich history of Black Americans with an assortment of festivities. Juneteenth Jubilee will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on the Kent Campus, Student Green/Risman Plaza. Enjoy live performances, music, great food, vendors and more. This event is free and open to the public.
