Beginning Sept. 1, 2026, only AFSCME employees will be eligible to convert sick leave to vacation leave. The ability to convert sick leave to personal leave is not changing. Consistent with 6-11.2 Administrative Policy Regarding Conversion of Sick Leave, eligible full-time non-AFSCME employees can continue to convert up to 40 hours of sick leave to personal leave each fiscal year, and part-time non-AFSCME employees can continue to convert up to 24 hours of sick leave to personal leave. This means employees will continue to have real flexibility in how they use their accrued sick leave, and will not lose those hours as a result of this update.
