The following list includes style conventions used when writing about СƬƵ and not covered in The Associated Press Stylebook.

Geneva campus — acceptable to use when referring to СƬƵ’s facility in Geneva, Switzerland. Note the lowercase for campus.

Giving Tuesday — use this form with a space between the words.

Golden Flashes — the official name of the СƬƵ athletic teams, both men’s and women’s teams. For subsequent references, Flashes is acceptable. Lady Flashes is unacceptable. In nonsporting content, a student is a Golden Flash; as a group, we are the Golden Flashes community.

GPA — acceptable in all references as grade-point average. GPA should be set in all caps without periods. Express all GPAs as the schools and colleges submit them (e.g., 2.0, 2.00).

GPS — use Graduation Planning System on first reference.

healthcare — use this form in medical contexts and for programs and course names in the College of Architecture and Environmental Design).

Helpdesk — use this form.

Honors College — always capitalize honors when referring to the СƬƵ college; however, use lowercase when referring to honors courses or honors students.

Honors Week — always capitalize when referring to the СƬƵ event; no apostrophe.

Hub — use this form (note: not in all caps) for the Kent Student Center Hub and the Design Innovation (DI) Hub.

ID — see СƬƵ ID number (Banner ID)

IdeaBase — use this form.

in-residence — hyphenate such constructions as professional-in-residences, poet-in-residence, ensemble-in-residence, etc., when used as a noun or adjective.

instructional areas — see under names of.

Intercollegiate Athletics — the official nickname of all teams that represent СƬƵ intercollegiate athletes in varsity competition is the “Golden Flashes.” The official mascot of СƬƵ’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is the golden eagle. The logos, nicknames and caricature of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics are for the use of СƬƵ athletics only. Special permission to use the athletics logos, nicknames and caricature by internal university entities may be granted by contacting Intercollegiate Athletics at 330-672-5974. Requests by external entities for trademark licensing of СƬƵ athletic imagery should be directed to the licensing coordinator, Office of General Counsel, at 330-672-2982.

СƬƵ Florence — use this form when referring to СƬƵ’s facility in Florence, Italy.

СƬƵ ID number  — use this form.

СƬƵ Alumni Association — use СƬƵ Alumni Association on first reference; alumni association or the association for subsequent references.

СƬƵ Alumni Association Distinguished Teaching Award — use this wording for first reference; Distinguished Teaching Award thereafter.

СƬƵ Bookstore — use this form on first reference; the bookstore for subsequent references.

СƬƵ Hotel and Conference Center — use СƬƵ Hotel and Conference Center on first reference; hotel on subsequent references.

СƬƵ Museum — use СƬƵ Museum on first reference; the museum for subsequent references; not fashion museum.

СƬƵ Sculpture Walk — use СƬƵ Sculpture Walk on first reference; University Sculpture Walk for subsequent references.

СƬƵ Twinsburg Academic Center — use СƬƵ Twinsburg Academic Center on first reference; Twinsburg Academic Center on subsequent references.

Kent Student Center — use this form; do not use СƬƵ Student Center.
