R. William (Bill) Ayres IV, Ph.D., Dean and Chief Administrative Officer

R. William (Bill) Ayres IV, Ph.D., of Toledo, Ohio, has served as the dean and chief administrative officer of С»ÆƬÊÓƵ at Trumbull since January 2022. He joined the campus following a national search, bringing extensive experience in academic leadership, program development, and student-focused innovation.

Prior to С»ÆƬÊÓƵ, Ayres was a professor of political science at the University of Toledo, where he also served as senior vice provost for academic affairs from 2018 to 2020 and vice provost for academic affairs from 2017 to 2018. His administrative career also includes seven years at Wright State University’s Graduate School as assistant dean, interim dean and associate dean. During his tenure, he oversaw the university’s first fully online degree programs, launched new graduate marketing initiatives and developed a comprehensive graduate student orientation program.

From 2006 to 2010, Ayres was the director of the Center for Global Citizenship at Elizabethtown College, becoming the center’s first full-time director and leading its international studies, service-learning and peace and conflict studies programs. He previously served as the founding director of the international relations program at the University of Indianapolis from 2000 to 2006.

As dean of С»ÆƬÊÓƵ Trumbull, Ayres reports to Peggy Shadduck, Ph.D., vice president for Regional Campuses and dean of the College of Applied and Technical Studies. Since joining the campus, he has focused on strengthening student success initiatives, expanding community partnerships and advancing the mission of regional education within the С»ÆƬÊÓƵ system.

Ayres earned his Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Arts in political science from The Ohio State University and his Bachelor of Arts in political science from Williams College.
