Dean Susan Stocker Named Interim Regional College Dean

ASHTABULA, Ohio (April 23, 2015)— СƬƵ Provost Todd Diacon announced Thursday that Dr. Susan Stocker, Dean and Chief Administrative Officer for СƬƵ at Ashtabula, will be serving as Interim Dean of the Regional College for СƬƵ starting July 1.  Stocker will continue in her capacity as dean of the СƬƵ Ashtabula campus while serving a two-year term as the Regional College interim dean.  Stocker has led the Ashtabula campus as dean since 2001, and also served as interim dean of the College of Nursing during the 2013 academic year.

The Regional College is the academic unit for certificates and degrees only offered at СƬƵ’s seven regional campuses.  The Regional College consists of 120 full-time faculty and program directors and houses nine programs with specialized accreditation, such as Ashtabula’s health degrees.  Responsibilities of the Regional College dean include representing all regional campuses to СƬƵ administration, developing a strategic plan and annual goals for the growth of the regional campuses, and conducting reviews of degree programs and faculty appointments.

“I appreciate the opportunity to continue to serve in a leadership capacity at СƬƵ and to represent all regional campuses at the administrative level.  Our regional campuses are an asset to the СƬƵ system and enable residents of Northeast Ohio to get a quality education close to home,” said Stocker.

The Regional College dean position is being left vacant by Dr. Wanda Thomas as she retires after 10 years of service to СƬƵ.

СƬƵ alumni, students, faculty and staff are invited to give back to the Ashtabula community during Flashes Give Back Week, April 13–18.

On Friday, April 17, volunteers at СƬƵ Ashtabula will help build raised garden boxes for a new residential gardening program at Homesafe on campus (3300 Lake Road West, Ashtabula). Projects may include cutting, nailing, sanding and painting.

СƬƵ at Ashtabula is beginning the spring semester with strong enrollment momentum, signaling continued student confidence in the campus’s academic offerings and the university’s commitment to access, affordability and student success.
