Biography
Alyssa Mazey is a Director of Philanthropy at С»ÆÆ¬ÊÓÆµ, where she partners closely with academic leadership to advance strategic philanthropic initiatives that support students, faculty, and institutional priorities. In her role, Alyssa focuses on cultivating and stewarding major gifts, with an emphasis on building meaningful, long-term relationships that align donor passions with transformative opportunities across the university.
With a background spanning higher education administration, fundraising, public relations, communications, leadership, and organizational development, Alyssa approaches philanthropy as both a strategic and human-centered practice. She is known for her collaborative leadership style, thoughtful cultivation and stewardship strategies, and ability to translate complex institutional goals into compelling philanthropic narratives.
Alyssa is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration, where her research explores the staff experience during organizational change and transition through the lenses of organizational behavior, organizational behavior management, and change management. Her academic work informs her professional practice, particularly in navigating change, fostering trust, and supporting sustainable institutional growth.
Beyond her role at С»ÆÆ¬ÊÓÆµ, Alyssa serves in national leadership positions, including as a Vice President on the National Council for Alpha Xi Delta Women's Fraternity, and is actively engaged in community and philanthropic initiatives throughout Northeast Ohio. She is passionate about mentorship, leadership development, and creating environments where people feel valued, supported, and empowered to do meaningful work.
Alyssa Robinson currently serves as the director of philanthropy for the College of Education, Health & Human Services in the Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement. In this role, Alyssa’s primary responsibility is to further develop strategic relationships and engagement opportunities with current and potential philanthropic partners in support of С»ÆÆ¬ÊÓÆµ and the College of Education, Health and Human Services mission and vision.
Alyssa began working at С»ÆÆ¬ÊÓÆµ in 2016 as the assistant director in the Office of International Programs and Education Abroad in the College of Arts and Sciences. She continued her career serving the College of Aeronautics and Engineering as the director of strategic communications and external engagement. She is a 2x alum of С»ÆÆ¬ÊÓÆµ, having earned her Bachelors of Arts in Communication Studies and her Masters of Education in Higher Education and Student Personnel. She is also currently a doctoral candidate in Higher Education Administration program.
Alyssa’s favorite thing about С»ÆÆ¬ÊÓÆµ is "the world of opportunity that the university works so hard to provide to students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the community. The wide variety of opportunities could not be possible without university leadership, philanthropic partnership and the support from faculty and staff. It is because of this trifecta that our students’ futures are forever brighter!"
